  • ...and many more.

Children & Young People (CYP)

Many young people aged 11-17 face a similar range of problems to adults, from family and relationship concerns to depression, anxiety, bereavement, relationship issues anger, body image concerns and low self-esteem etc. This is all on top of school-related issues such as bullying and exam-stress.

All this may be happening while the young person is trying to establish a new identity as an adult. Many young people can feel inadequate or even ashamed of not being able to cope with all that life may be throwing at them.

I can offer a calm, safe non-judgmental space to help them to untangle the issues that are wearing them down.

I work as integrative counsellor which means that I combine ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools that I have trained in as I feel everyone is unique, so different methods are needed for different individuals. I have completed various training in mindfulness, which is a technique to help calm the mind, with which I am able to support young people to ease their burdens. Before I began counselling, a lot of my work was carried out in both mainstream schools and special needs schools, through which I gained qualifications and experience in supporting children.

I carry out my sessions online through video call & I find this appears to be less daunting for most adolescents. If you are a parent/carer experiencing concerns about your child or young person, please contact me for consultation of how I could support you. I also have an Enhanced DBS to work with young people.

Loss through bereavement and family estrangement

My speciality is working with those experiencing loss through both bereavement and family estrangement. I have carried out intensive training around both issues.

The impact of loss can leave us feeling extremely fragile and vulnerable with some difficult emotions to cope with, this may include fear, sadness, anger, shock, denial and guilt etc

We will take this journey slowly at a pace you feel safe with so you know your feelings are being heard and validated, thus giving you a safe space to talk.

My aim is to assist the client with adjusting to a new kind of normal and to support them on their journey.
